  • The SH-S223 drive provides blazing recording speeds across a gamut of different data media types. As lower speed media is more cost-effective, users can save money while burning discs at faster speeds. I have run out of things to try, but I do suspect that there may be either corruption, or something missing from the registry entry that Samsung asked me to edit, as it obviously has some influence on the drive. The SH-S223 drive offers a powerful over-speed performance feature that enables consumers to burn data at high speeds - even on low speed media. They asked me to edit a registry entry, which I did, and now the DVD's are no longer titled Blank Disks, but instead the drive changes from being called a DVD RAM Drive to CD Drive! I contacted Samsung, and reported that the drive titled all DVD's as Blank Disks.

This I did, but it had no affect on the problem.

He suggested I reinstall my XP Home edition. The dealer had the drive back, and tested it on their machine, and he says it plays the disks that it will not play when installed back in my machine. If I transfer the disk into my Samsung ROM drive and explore, the files are all there, and the disk will play. When I explore the disk it appears empty. Although this drive will play audio CD's and Program CD's, when I try to play DVD's or Data CD's it fails to read them. The local dealer supplied me a HP drive in replacement, which turned out to be faulty,- the speed governor was not working -, they obtained a Samsung replacement SH-S182M with Lightscribe facility. The trouble started when my Samsung Writemaster failed.
